'JARAPAS' are traditional Andalucian rugs made in the province of Granada. Following the Christian reconquest in 1492, the Spanish took over the many looms left by the Moors and put them to their own use: instead of silk weaving, they used locally available threads rolled onto spools to weave rugs or blankets.

These rugs are still being hand-woven on wooden looms by local craftspeople in Andalucía, following the same age-long recycling tradition.

In the 'Jarapa Sencilla' style, these rugs are extremely hardwearing. Made of cotton threads, handwoven on traditional looms in Andalucia. Can be washed in the washing machine if required, subject to size.
